Obituary

Wanda Hoffman, 99 of Yankton, SD, formerly of Stickney, SD, passed away Friday, May 16, 2025 at Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM Thursday, May 22, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Stickney. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Stickney. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Wanda Maurine Hoffman was born March 11, 1926, to Hugh and Helen (Arnold) Cornwell.

On January 2, 1950, she married Clarence Hoffman in Sioux City, IA. They spent several years in the Sioux City area, running the feed store, trailer court, and racing horses. Wanda even had a horse named Wanda's Pleasure. In 1995, they moved to Stickney. Wanda enjoyed her gardening and canning. After Clarence passed away on November 18, 2009, Wanda made the decision to move to Yankton to be close to her niece, Linda. As her health declined, she moved to Avera Sister James Nursing Home.

Wanda is survived by her daughter, Marge (Dan) Wortman of Tennessee; stepdaughter, Janet (Robert) Bosworth of Plankinton, SD; eight grandchildren,18 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; parents, Hugh and Helen Cornwell; stepson, Richard; granddaughter, Brenda; great-grandson, Jordan; four sisters-in-law, Margaret, Florence, Norma, and Jerri; and four brothers-in-law, Melvin, Bob, Donnie, and Raymond.

Aunt Wanda was a quiet soul with a sweet smile. I wasn't able to see you often these last couple years but I will always remember the visits we did have. Love you. May you RIP

Remember no one ever really dies they live on and all who loved them. Wanda was always very nice to me I remember going to their house while I was growing up
