Obituary

Virginia Radel, 96, of Mitchell, SD, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Avera Brady Health and Rehab in Mitchell. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, October 30, at Bittner Funeral Chapel with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Servicemen’s Memorial Cemetery in Mitchell.

Virginia Lorraine Radel was born February 25, 1929, to Anton “Tony” and Ida (Brees) Toben in Ethan, SD. She attended Mitchell schools and Mitchell Business School.

Virginia married Donald Radel on November 24, 1952, at the First United Methodist Church in Mitchell. She was employed at National Life Ins Company, Leham’s Chiropractic Clinic, and the senior nutrition program. Virginia was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church. She helped teach Sunday School, sang in the church choir, attended church circle, and delivered Meals on Wheels.

Virginia is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Don) Walker of Mitchell and Cynthia (Bob) Unruh of Mitchell; grandchildren, Carmen (Chris) Fischer, Rachel Radel (Shaun), Laura Radel, Laramie (Matt) Beck, Brandon (Katie) Unruh, and Shawn (Kristin) Walker; eight great-grandchildren, Emma, Isaac, Ivy, and Elijah Fischer, Hadley and Lucy Unruh, Adelynn and Oliver Beck; and daughter-in-law, Carol Radel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Radel; son, Donnie Radel; and brother, Delbert Toben.

Oh I am so very sorry for your loss. I am really going to miss this amazing lady. I spent hours talk with her and helping her with life. I know she is with her Savior. Rest now my friend and till we meet again on the shores of eternity.
