Vickey Faulhaber, 77, of Plankinton, SD, died Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Avera Brady Health and Rehab in Mitchell. A visitation will be Wednesday, July 12, from 5-7:00 PM with a 6:30 PM prayer service at the United Methodist Church in Plankinton. Private burial will be at Mizpah Cemetery in Plankinton. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.
Vickey Kaye Faulhaber was born September 10, 1945 to Robert and Louise (Greene) Maine in Mitchell, SD. Vickey grew up in rural Plankinton/White Lake on the family farm. She attended Country School Flynn and graduated from White Lake High School. After high school, Vickey attended Black Hills State University in Spearfish, SD. She then moved to Illinois in 1965, and worked at a bank and grocery store.
Vickey married Jim Brizzolara, and to this union a daughter was born. In 1976, Vickey and her daughter moved back to South Dakota. She was then employed with Plankinton School and Plankinton Training School from 1976 to 1996 when she retired. She then married Richard Faulhaber in Mount Vernon on November 10, 1989.
Vickey had a passion for horses, farming, raising bottle calves, and field work. She was an excellent baker and cook; everyone especially loved her bread. Vickey was also a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. She was very active in the bowling community for many years and attended several state tournaments. She enjoyed traveling with trips to Hawaii, Alaska, Australia, New York, Georgia, and Mexico.
Vickey is survived by her husband, Richard; daughter, Jeanine (Heath Davis) Brizzolara of Brandon, SD; stepdaughter, Tammie (Mark) Munsen of White Lake; stepsons, Tracy (Donna) Faulhaber of New Lebanon, NY, and Travis (Mika) Faulhaber of Plankinton; six grandchildren; sister, Ruth (Dave) Merrill of Plankinton; brother, Rodney Maine of White Lake; in-laws, Jim and Audrey Schroeder of Sturgis, Connie Faulhaber of Mitchell, and Rodney and Teresa Faulhaber of Wessington Springs; aunt, Jean Seiders of Sioux Falls; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Denny Schoenfelder; father-in-law, Les Faulhaber; mother-in-law, Jo Faulhaber; and brother-in-law, Bob Faulhaber.
