Obituary

Tami Meadors, 63, of Rapid City, SD formerly of Mitchell, SD, died Monday, November 6, 2023 under hospice care in Rapid City. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, November 11, at Harvest Community Church in Mitchell. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7:00 PM at the church. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Tamara (Tami) Renee Meadors was born August 9, 1960 to Norman and Bernadine Peterson in Mitchell. She grew up in Mitchell as one of ten children in the family. They played, they fought, but most of all they loved. Tami graduated from Mitchell High School, then attended Huron University graduating with a registered nurse degree.

Tami worked at McDonald’s as her first job at a very young age. She then worked as a grocery clerk at Red Owl and Randall’s stores in Mitchell. She met many people working with the public and made a lot of friends. After receiving her nursing degree, Tami worked at St. Joseph Hospital and Brady Memorial Home in Mitchell. She then worked as a psych nurse in Yankton for several years with two of her sisters. She also worked as a psych nurse at Rapid City Regional Hospital for over 20 years. Most recently, Tami was able to work from home, which she loved, as a COVID call center nurse then with Nurse Triage.

Tami married James Sellars and had two children from this union, Christopher John and Stephanie Ann. She married Tim Meadors on April 17, 2005, and together had one son, Patrick Timothy.

Tami was a smiling ray of sunshine wherever she went, flashing her beautiful smile. She had the most beautiful blue eyes! Others radiated with joy around her and loved being her friend. Her heart was very giving. She was always doing what she could to help others.

She loved anything that involved being outdoors. Loved mowing the grass, gardening, tending to her beautiful flowers, and watching birds. She loved all animals, especially her dog. Tami enjoyed riding the four wheelers on trails in the Hills with family. She also loved to travel with her family, especially her children. Her favorite places were Mexico and California, where she could soak up the sun on the beach. Tami took pride in her home and always had it decorated for holidays, making it beautiful for her family. Tami was famous for her cooking and baking, her wittiness and sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by all!

We live in Georgia and we met Tami when she came to Dan’s funeral. She was someone you didn’t forget. I was struck by the love between Connie and Tami. She was such a gracious, real, lady. She had the most beautiful smile.
Our condolences to her family. She was certainly a Christ filled jewel.
