Stella Klumb, 95, formerly of Ethan, SD, died Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, May 12, at St. John Lutheran Church in rural Dimock. Burial will be at St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Stella Margaret Klumb was born September 1, 1926, at home in Davison County to Joseph J. and Louise (Muntefering) Hohn. She attended country school at Tobin #8. On April 12, 1948, she married Melvin Klumb. They farmed eight miles west of Ethan. In June 2004, she moved to Parkston to be closer to her dear sisters.
Stella was an active member of St. John Lutheran church. She loved sewing quilts for her church and family. She loved to embroider dishtowels and pillowcases for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Friendship Extension Club for 40 years, sang in the church choir, and held office for many years in the WELCA Women’s group of St. John. After her health started failing and unable to attend church and be with family, something she truly cherished was lost. She took great pride in her flower beds, loved playing cards, dancing, and being with family and friends.
Grateful for having shared and making lifelong memories are her 5 children: Larry (Patricia) Klumb of Ethan, Sandra (Gerald) Moke of Ethan, Bonnie (Douglas) Reimnitz of Corsica, Gary Klumb of Mount Vernon, Terry (Lisa) Klumb of Dimock, 19 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, sisters: Marce Degen and Alida Haag of Parkston, sister-in-law, Jerry Hohn of Sioux Falls and brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Bernice Klumb of Plymouth, MN.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Melvin, sister Hilda and husband Leonard Herman, brothers, Willard and wife Celine, Vilas (Bud) Hohn, brothers and sisters-in-law, Louis Degen, Ivan Haag, LaVern and Leona Klumb, Carmen and Orville Klumb, Nelda and Ed Marshall.
