Shelby Hohn, 20, of Dimock, SD, passed away Monday, June 10, 2024, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls from complications of an automobile accident. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 AM Friday, June 14, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Dimock. Burial will be at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7:00 PM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with a prayer service and Rosary to follow at 7:00 PM.
Shelby Jo Hohn was born May 26, 2004, to Mark and Bonnie (Gosmire) Hohn of Dimock, South Dakota, at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell, South Dakota.
Shelby was baptized and confirmed at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Dimock. Her faith was an important part of her life attending CCD and Mass each week.
She attended elementary and high school in Parkston, South Dakota. She was involved in volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, and a member of the Parkston FFA Chapter.
Her love for children led her to attend Southeast Technical College, in Sioux Falls, for child development.
Shelby loved animals, especially horses. She was a member of the Ethan Trail Riders. Shelby was a South Dakota Rodeo Association barrel rider.
Her infectious smile brought joy to everyone, especially children. Her heart was always at the little kids’ table. Shelby’s laughter and sweet loving spirit will linger forever.
Grateful for sharing Shelby’s life are her parents, Mark and Bonnie Hohn; brother, Sutton Hohn (girlfriend Tessa Pederson); grandparents, Eldon and Tina Hohn of Dimock, SD; and her boyfriend, Kaden Pechota of Colome, SD. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins: Rod and Joy (Geide)son Noah fiancé Briana Steuerwald, daughter Camille, Hartford, South Dakota; Lori (Hohn) and Gene Unzelman daughters Megan and Amelia, son Dillon, Crooks, South Dakota; Russ and Connie Hohn of Pierre, South Dakota, daughter Raquel (Hohn) Jared—daughter Jocelyn Neshiem of Ethan, South Dakota; Haley Hohn and fiancé Tory Mason, Frankfort, South Dakota, and son Layne and Molly (Hermann) of Knoxville, Tennessee; Barb (Gosmire) Adams, sons Jason and Sandy Falk—daughters Mariah, Aspen, sons Parker and Brandon of White Lake, South Dakota, Josh of Mitchell, South Dakota, and Justin and Ashley (Thurman)—daughters Kaytlin, Audrina, Lexi, and son Kiegan of Mitchell, South Dakota; Ray and Doreen (DeVos), sons Marshal of Denver, Colorado, Myles and Stephanie Disse of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and daughter Molly of Egan, Minnesota; Dona (Gosmire) and Ron Steffen of White Lake, South Dakota, daughters Kristen(Steffen) and Alan Bruinsma—sons Grayson and Oakley, Stickney, South Dakota, Kelli (Steffen) and Logan Fleming—daughter Atley, of Seward, Nebraska; Susan (Gosmire) and Duane Sattler, daughters Casie (Sattler) Burling—daughter Jasmin, son Ethan, Brittany (Sattler) and Dylan Bryant—daughters Carly and Aubrey, of Lincoln, Nebraska, Megan (Sattler) and Marcus Rens of Sheldon, Iowa; Diane (Gosmire) and Mike Gilbertz, son Joseph, and daughters Mikenna and Addison of White Lake, South Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Hazel and Virgil Gosmire, and uncle, Brian Hohn.
In lieu of flowers, gifts to the #Shelbystong Memorial Fund are welcomed at First Dakota Bank.

When Shelby was in highschool, one evening Shelby and Paige brought me a container of fruit and the teenagers were praying for me. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.
