Shaun A. Fitzpatrick, 67, of Mitchell, SD, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2024, at his home under hospice care. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, December 3, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell. Burial will be at Casselton Cemetery in Casselton, ND. Visitation will be Monday, December 2, from 5-7:00 PM at Bittner Funeral Chapel with a 6:30 PM prayer service.

Shaun Arnold Fitzpatrick was born on August 18, 1957 in Mitchell, SD to Keith and Shirley (Fox) Fitzpatrick. Shaun attended Holy Family and Holy Spirit grade schools and graduated from Mitchell High School in 1975. He then served in the United States Army from 1975 until 1978.

In 1976, he married Linda Thompson, with whom he had two sons, Cassidy and Trevor.

After discharge from the Army, Shaun attended Dakota Wesleyan University, studying pre-med. He then went on to attend Trevecca University in Nashville, TN, and graduated in 1985 with a Physician’s Assistant degree. After graduation, he moved to Fargo, ND and worked in neurosurgery from 1985 to 1987. While in North Dakota, Shaun met Jane Vining, and they were united in marriage on May 20, 1988, in Las Vegas, NV. Together, they moved to Brookings, SD, where Shaun worked in orthopedics until his retirement in 2017. They resided in Brookings until Jane’s death from breast cancer in 2015. Shaun then moved to Mitchell in 2018, where he was fortunate to meet Jane F. Sorrells, and they were able to share their lives together until Shaun’s passing.

Shaun enjoyed a lifetime of camping, traveling, and cooking, but his greatest love were his boys and Notre Dame Football.

Shaun is survived by his fiancé, Jane Sorrells; sons, Cassidy (Alison) and Trevor (Jenna); grandchildren, Mara, Connor, Liam, Fey, Max, and Nyla; brother, Patrick Fitzpatrick; and sisters, Kelly (Kris) Fitzpatrick and Kerry (Steve) Koch.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Michael and Timothy Fitzpatrick.
