Sharon Lee Walton was born on August 26, 1942 in Mitchell, SD to John and Regina (Metzger) Walton. She was raised in Artesian, SD and graduated from Artesian High School as class Salutatorian in May 1960. During high school she was active in vocal music groups, served as librarian, appeared in plays and was on the paper staff.

After continuing her education in California, she returned home to Artesian, and on February 17, 1962 she married Harvey Staffen in Artesian. To this union, there were three children: Harlyn, Gibi, and Brenda. In 1978, they moved to the family farm in Fedora, SD. There she went to work at the Howard Good Samaritan Center for over 30 years as a CNA and Restorative Aid.

In 2021, she moved into Edgewood Memory Care in Mitchell, and then in 2022 she moved into Diamond Care Center in Bridgewater, SD where she lived out the remainder of her life.

Sharon’s hobbies included: sewing, crocheting, cross stitching, reading, crossword puzzles, and she was very interested in her family genealogy. So much so that she created several books filled with hundreds of pages of family pictures and information.

She is survived by her husband, Harvey; daughters, Gibi (Dan) Page of Fedora, SD and Brenda (Reggie) Suess of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Tyler (Stephanie) Page and Barbara Page both of Mitchell, SD and Trevor Lundgren of Sioux Falls, SD; great grandson, Carter Bannwarth of Mitchell, SD; sister-in-law, Diane Walton of Wilmington, CA; and several nieces and nephews.

Gibi and family so sorry for your loss. It has been a long time but saw the name it instantly clicked. Our school friendship was so long ago but I thought of you often over the years as we passed by Fedora. Hugs and prayers for peace and comfort.
