Angels descended on April 2, 2026, to welcome Rose Ann Carson into her eternal home. Rose passed away at her home at Touchmark at All Saints, Sioux Falls.
Rose Ann Brodkorb was born July 20, 1943, to George and Virginia (Fitzgerald) Brodkorb in Mitchell. As the oldest of five children, Rose Ann embraced her role as the oldest sibling with dedication. Family was the center of Rose’s life. The family farmed near Kimball before moving to a farm near Wessington Springs.
Her education began in country schools, after which, she moved to Wessington Springs, where she graduated from high school as valedictorian in 1961. Her high school years were filled with a job, Library Club, Glee Club, Mixed Chorus, Girls’ State, Thespian Society, Declam, and Spartan Special Staff.
Rose then worked at the Jerauld County ASCS office, where she met Lawrence Carson, who would become her lifelong partner on Oct. 3, 1965. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Conrad, Cynthia, and Curtis. The Carson home was filled with love and laughter, which also extended to several foster children and friends who found warmth and acceptance there.
Rose Ann balanced family life with her professional commitments. She was employed by Tri-County Health Care, Inc., eventually becoming Executive Director. Rose Ann became nationally recognized for her work, including sitting on national committees.
Because of her professional commitment, Rose was named to the Who’s Who of Women Executives in 1990. While working, she also furthered her education, earning a degree from Stephens College, Columbia, MO.
Rose and Lawrence were active members of the United Methodist Church, Wessington Springs. She enjoyed serving on the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee and delivering sermons when called upon.
After raising their family and entering retirement, Rose Ann and Lawrence embraced a new chapter by moving to Mitchell. This move allowed them to be closer to their children and grandchildren. There, Rose Ann and Lawrence enjoyed many years together, surrounded by family and friends. Rose Ann also quickly formed meaningful friendships within the Downtown First United Methodist Church community.
However, this chapter came to a close with Lawrence's passing in 2019. Seeking to be closer to her children and grandchildren, Rose Ann made the heartfelt decision to move to Sioux Falls. Soon, Rose Ann was blessed with the arrival of her first great-grandchild, Holland Johnson, bringing new joy and fulfillment to her life.
Missing Rose Ann are her children, Conrad (Kimberly) Carson of Brandon, Cynthia (Romano) Adajar of Sioux Falls, and Curtis (Jennifer (Pearson)) Carson of Honolulu, HI; her six grandchildren: Pierce, Quinn (Micah), Reed, and Keera Rose Adajar, Abigail Rose (Dayton) Johnson, and Aiden (Emma Eichelberg) Carson; and great-grandchild, Holland Johnson. Also surviving Rose Ann are her beloved sister, Deana (Barry Bailey) Brodkorb of Mission, SD, and many extended family members.
Rose Ann will be joining her beloved husband, Lawrence; parents, George and Virginia Brodkorb; and siblings, Wanda Whitney, Linda Kolousek, and Mark Brodkorb, in the eternal arms of God.
