Obituary

Roger Jucht, 82, of Bridgewater, SD, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. A visitation will be held Friday, May 29, from 5-7:00 PM at Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell, with a 6:30 PM prayer service.

Roger Dale Jucht was born on July 20, 1943, to Herbert and Mabel Jucht.

On February 14, 1967, he married the love of his life, Janet (Lippert) Jucht. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and the farm they called home. Shortly after their wedding, Roger and Janet moved to the farm where they spent their lives farming side by side and raising their family.

Roger was the proud father of four children: Glen Jucht of Duluth, MN; Kevin Jucht of Sioux Falls, SD; Gail Sievert and her husband, John, of Sioux Falls, SD; and Karmen Ten Napel and her husband, Wade, of Pella, IA.

He was also a proud grandfather to six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter: Taylor Ten Napel and his wife, Taylor, of Nashville, TN; Frances Karl and her husband, Thomas, of Sedona, AZ, and their daughter, Aurora; Jonnie Jucht of Duluth, MN; Jack and Austin Sievert of Sioux Falls, SD; and Hudson Ten Napel of Pella, IA.

Roger is also survived by his siblings: Janell Christiansen of Lennox, SD; Marlene Bacon of Anaheim, CA; and Larry Jucht of Emery, SD, along with his in-laws, Dennis and Joyce Lippert of Flower Mound, TX, and Mark and LaRae Odland of South Haven, MI. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Roger loved the simple and meaningful parts of life. He enjoyed farming, gardening, fishing, riding his ATV, and caring for animals, especially his beloved dog, Yogi. One of his greatest joys was planting pumpkin patches and giving the pumpkins away to children in the community each fall. Bringing joy to others, especially children, meant a great deal to him.

He will be remembered as a hardworking and generous man who showed his love through quiet acts of kindness, steady support, and the life he built with his family. His family will forever cherish the example he set and the memories made together on the farm he loved so much.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Mabel Jucht; his parents-in-law, Raymond and Nettie Lippert; his brother-in-law, Myron Lippert; and his brother-in-law, Richard Christiansen.

It was great to get acquainted with Roger & you (Janet) over the recent years as you attended RiverTree Church here in Mitchell. Whether it was on our patio for a Sunday cookout, enjoying your country cooking at your farm home by Emery or visiting Roger during his short stay at Diamond Care Center in Bridgewater, Roger was always a humble and grateful spirited man. He expressed how thankful he was that he had it so much better then many others who had it so much worse. His love for God was seen in his hospitality, & his prayers for his family, and his gentle spirit to all. We will both miss his friendship. Blessings on your family as you celebrate his life.

This man and his wife treated me and my husband like their own. He made it his business to know what was happening in our lives. When he took sick you better believe it we knew. He was not in his usual pre in church. We talked to Janet and prayed for him. Then he was back. Now he is not there. Just know this great man will be missed in our lives ❤️ God’s blessings to you and your family Janet🙏
