Rodney Ozanne, 80, of Mitchell, SD, passed away Friday, June 13, 2025, at his home in Mitchell. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Friday, June 20, at Bittner Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7:00 PM at Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Rodney “Papa” Meredith Ozanne left this world at his home at the age of 80 years old, in Mitchell South Dakota, on June 13th 2025.

Rodney was born on October 12th, 1944 in Mitchell, South Dakota to his parents Alfred and Adeline (Ehrlich) Ozanne.

While being born in Mitchell South Dakota, he lived and grew up around the Farmer and Alexandria South Dakota areas.

He met his wife in 1965 while dragging Main St. in Mitchell, Rodney was then introduced to Janice, by his sister Sherry. He married to Janice Lee (Fousek) Ozanne on September 23rd, 1966.

Rodney was drafted to the US Army in 1966, he did his training in Fort Lewis, Washington. He later moved to Germany in 1966, until his tour in Germany ended in 1968.

Rodney was grateful having shared his life with his wife, Janice; son, Craig Ozanne (Shari Juhnke); daughter, Melissia (Ozanne) Engles; grandchildren, Andrew “His little buddy” Engles, Nicholas “Pickle” Engles, and Samantha “His little sweety” Engles; sister, Sherry Schuldt; brother, Gaylenn (Judy) Ozanne; and youngest sister, Nylaine (Pat) O’gorman; brother-in-law, Zach Waldner; and sister-in-law, Pamela Waldner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Adeline; mother and father-in-law, Clarence and Rose Fousek; nephew, Keith Ozanne; brothers-in-law, Marvin Schuldt and Kenny Fousek.
