Rodney Maine, 77, of Plankinton, SD, died Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell. Private family funeral services will be held. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Rodney L. Maine was born October 2, 1947, to Robert and Louise (Greene) Maine in Mitchell, SD.

Rod lived and worked on the family farm until moving to Rockford, IL for a few years. While in Rockford, IL, he married Becky Mortimore on August 26, 1966. From this union two children were born, Tracy and Marcie. The family returned to Plankinton in 1967, where Rod returned to farming. He then started a pheasant hunting business in the early 80s, and became the second licensed preserve in the state of South Dakota. He continued his hunting operation until he retired. Rod later married Elizabeth Schuman in 2012.

Rod is survived by his daughter, Marcie (Sean Davis) Maine; son, Tracy Maine; grandchildren, Taylor (Skyler) Spellman, Payton Maine, Kara Weller, and Haley (Parker) Bass; great-grandchildren, Samuel and Junia Spellman, and Payton, Riley, Casey Bass; and sister, Ruth Merrill.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Vicky Faulhaber and Carol Schoenfelder.
