Obituary

Robert “Rob” Mast, 53, of Mitchell, SD, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell. Visitation will be Friday, July 24, from 3:30-5:30 PM at Bittner Funeral Chapel with a 5:00 PM prayer service.

Robert Anthony Mast was born December 13, 1972, to Philip and Winnona (Kirtland) Mast in Newport News, Virginia. Rob was a very good man. He is loved and missed by everyone who knows him. He loved to help everyone when they called or stopped by. He was the captain of our Dart team “Hook 'n' Flight”. He loved working as a welder at H&R Salvage in Mitchell. He always felt good when he went to work. It was the only job he wanted; everyone made him feel welcome. He died happy and knowing that he was very loved.

He is survived by his father, Philip Mast; children, Carver and Maddie Mast, both of Sioux Falls, SD; sisters, Christa Cero and Candice Lockwood, both of Sioux Falls, SD.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Winnona Mast.

I remember Rob as that charming little boy, active, having fun. I hope that early spirit continues, leaving all troubles behind.
