Obituary

Ralph ‘Woody’ Woodraska, 87, of Mitchell, SD, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 26, at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell. Celebration of Life with luncheon will follow at the Hitchcock Park enclosed shelter at 1:00 PM, casual dress is welcome. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Ralph Woodraska was born on August 19, 1938, to Reuben and Esther (Radenslaben) Woodraska.

Ralph married the love of his life, Pat (Nolan) Woodraska, and together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and lasting memories. They spent most of their years in Mitchell, South Dakota, where Ralph became known as a true jack-of-all-trades. Throughout his working years, he was employed in construction, trucking, and Sturdevant’s for many years. No matter the job, Ralph took pride in his work and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Ralph enjoyed the outdoors and especially cherished time spent fishing, hunting, and camping with his family. Some of his greatest joys came from sharing these activities with those he loved and creating memories that will be treasured for generations.

Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Sue, Lori, and Cathy; his grandchildren, DeWayne (Kristen), Daniel, Brandon, and Rachelle; great-grandchildren: Tyler, Tyce, Rainey, Marley, Nakiah, Maleya, Elliana, Caysin, Dax, Adisson, and Dominic; great-great-grandchild, Reed; brother, Gary; and several nieces and nephews.

Ralph was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pat; son, Dave; parents, Reuben and Esther; sister, Cheryl (Tom) Nolan; and great-granddaughter, Alisson.

Ralph will be remembered for his strong work ethic, practical skills, love of the outdoors, and devotion to his family. His presence, wisdom, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always.
