Pearl Gladys (Hofer) Duba was born on September 27, 1935, to Joe J. Hofer and Justina (Wipf) Hofer at their home near Bridgewater. She graduated from Ethan High School in 1954 and married Duane D. Duba on June 12, 1955, at Hutterthal Mennonite Church in rural Freeman, SD. Together, they raised three children: Florence, Wanda, and David.
Pearl and Duane farmed west of Ethan for many years. As a devoted homemaker, Pearl played an integral role in the family's farming operation. Her greatest joy was caring for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Pearl had a talent for crocheting personalized doilies, often framing them as thoughtful keepsakes. She was also a skilled cook and baker, ensuring no one ever left her home hungry or thirsty.
Pearl is survived by her children, Florence Erpenbach (Jim Guenthner), Wanda (Mark) Belitz, and David Duba (Vicki Connor), eleven grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Rose Darlene Larson of Sioux Falls, and Carol (Tom) Brown of Rapid City, as well as sisters-in-law, Verna Hofer and Thelma Hofer both of Mitchell.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Duane; parents, Joe and Justina Hofer; brothers, Alvin, Wilbert, and Joe (Norma) Hofer; sister Mabel (Bill) Voss; parents in-law, William and Alice Duba; son-in-law, Glen Erpenbach; brother-in-law, Carl Larson; and sister-in-law, Marlis Kapfenstein.
Pearl's loving spirit and unwavering dedication to her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
