Nicholas Smith, 28, of Mitchell, SD, died Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be 11:30 AM Friday, September 1, at Faith Missionary Church in Mitchell with a visitation one hour prior to the funeral service. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.
Nicholas Smith was born July 19, 1995, to Chris Sateren and Bonita Smith in Mitchell, SD. He grew up in Mitchell and attended Mitchell Christian School.
Nicholas delivered newspapers for the Daily Republic. He enjoyed sporting events and video games.
Nicholas is survived by his mother, Bonita; grandparents, Don and Ruby Smith and RoseMary (Don) Sunhagen; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Chris, and grandfather, Edwin Sateren.

So sorry to hear of Nicholas's passing. He was such a gentle kid and didn't have a mean bone in him. Sorry to say I lost track of him in recent years but remember him as a classmate of my son .. may he rest in peace and condolances to his family.

I had been thinking about Nicholas lately...then I see things on FB. He was such a kind and gentle boy in school. I hadn't seen him for a long time. Lean into the arms of our Heavenly Father, who understands the pain and loss of a son.
