Marlin Telkamp, 86, of Mitchell, SD, formerly of Watertown and Brookings, SD, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2023, under hospice care at Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell. A graveside service will be held at a later date at the South Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Sioux Falls. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.
Marlin Telkamp was born on September 15th, 1937, in Brookings, SD and raised on a farm near Brookings owned by his parents, Glen and Harriet (Staples) Telkamp. He attended public school in Brookings, then served in the Air Force, stationed in Texas. After his tour of duty, he worked for Sexauer’s in Brookings, but for many years he was employed in the Trucking Industry where he traveled the country until he retired.
Marlin was married to Geraldine “Geri” Fischbach, also residing at Firesteel.
He is survived by his wife, Geri Telkamp; daughters, Lori Kellar and Lisa Dillon; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.
Marlin was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeffrey Telkamp; sisters, Verola Synder, Berdeena Chase, and Glennice Shay; and brother, Merlin Telkamp.
All memorials will be directed to a Homeless Veterans program.
