Maria Otilia Martinez, 89, of Alexandria, SD, died Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the Carmelite Monastery in Alexandria. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM Monday, June 17, at the Carmelite Monastery in Alexandria. Burial will be at St. Mary of Mercy Catholic Cemetery in Alexandria. Visitation will be Sunday, June 16, from 12-6:00 PM at the Carmelite Monastery.

Maria Otilia Martinez was born on November 28, 1934 to Amadeo Martinez and Sara Gallegos in Mora, NM.

Maria entered Carmel on October 15, 1953 in Guadalajara, Spain. Her religious name was Sr. Teresa of the Child Jesus, OCD. She transferred from Spain to Monastery of Our Mother of Mercy and St. Joseph USA on February 4, 2006.

She is survived by her immediate family: Pedro Ismael, Jose Guillermo, Ana Adelina Lujan, Esequiel, Reynaldo, Benito, and Leonila Martinez Cordova.
