Obituary

Kenneth Kaldun, 81, of Salem, SD, formerly of Alexandria, SD, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell. Funeral services will be at 11:30 AM Thursday, August 13, at Grace Reformed Church in Mitchell, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Kenneth Dean Kaldun was born November 17, 1944, to Sam and Clara (Herr) Kaldun in Wagner, SD. He attended Delmont Country School and worked at Tripp Creamery in is youth. Kenneth joined the US Army on March 31, 1963. He was trained in field radio repair and served 12 months in Korea.

Kenneth married Cynthia Jo Weisser on October 26, 1967, in Vermillion, SD. After their marriage, they moved to Alexandria, SD where Kenneth worked at the Morman Feed.

Kenneth and Cynthia began driving truck full-time together in 1982. They drove all over the country to all but five states. In 2009, he retired from trucking and settled in the country near Epiphany, SD.

Kenneth was an avid collector of model farm machinery and cars. He also enjoyed going to car shows.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Cynthia; nephew, Darrick & family; nieces, Wendy, Robin, and Natalie & families; and sister-in-law, Judy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Clara; siblings, Shirley, Roland, and Marvin; in-laws, Sam and Lucille Weisser; and sister-in-law, Bonnie.
