Obituary

Keith Senska, 80, of Woonsocket, SD, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2026, at VA Hospice Cottage in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, January 17, at Spirit of Faith Church in Woonsocket. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens in Huron, SD. Visitation will be Friday, January 16, from 5-7:00 PM at the church with a 6:30 PM prayer service. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Keith Millard Senska was born on January 4, 1946, to Millard & Selma (Larson) Senska in Madison, SD. He grew up on the family farm north of Forestburg and attended Forestburg public school, graduating in 1964.

Keith spent one year at SDSU, where he resided in Matthews Hall. In 1966, Keith was drafted into the Marines, but elected to enlist in the Navy instead. He went into active duty on January 11, 1966, and served on the USS Tulare, the USS Terrell County, and fought in the Vietnam War.

Keith was honorably discharged from the Navy on January 11th, 1969. He bought a 1969 Mustang Fastback and drove from San Diego, California, back to Sanborn County, where he purchased a farm close to his parents’ farm.

On January 15, 1972, Keith married the love of his life, Barbara Larimer. They welcomed their first son, Stacy, in 1973. In 1975, they sold the Mustang and added Scott to the family. They completed their family in 1977 with the birth of their daughter, Laura.

Keith served on many boards throughout his life: Sanborn Country Commissioners, Woonsocket School Board, Church Council, Jackson Township board, T & C Fire board, Church parish board, to name a few. He was a member of the American Legion Post 29 and Spirit of Faith Church.

In 2013, Keith retired from farming, and Barb and Keith began traveling. They enjoyed going on cruises, attending USS Terrell County ship reunions, where he was able to connect with past Navy buddies, and several bus trips. For the last 10 years, they have been winter Texans. They built a strong bond with a group of friends. Keith loved playing cards in Texas. If you had the nerve to call him during a game, be prepared to get hung up on. He liked to remind his family that “We Love Texas!”

Keith had a strong love for his family, his community, and his country. He had a large sense of humor, and if you never had the opportunity to endure one of his jokes, we hate to inform you, but your life will never be complete!

Keith leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Barb; his children: Stacy (Ivy) Senska, Scott Senska, and Laura (Lance) Conrad; seven grandchildren: Sawyer, Aubrey, Shiloh, Summer, Devyn, Reed, and Olivia; two sisters, Carol (Tom) Schade and Susan (Jim) Johannsen; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, and a grandson, Sutton Senska.

Barb and Keith were one of the very first friends to welcome us to our Texas park. Keith was such a joy playing various card games. It wasn't long into our friendship we learned how much Keith loved his family and his love for our country. He was a true patriot!!! Our memories of Keith will always remain close in our hearts.

Keith was a fighter as shown in his cancer battle. This battle was long and hard. He had good years following the initial treatment in 2013. 2025 was another story β€” lots of hospital stays. Keith would be the first to tell us that life is good. He would say that he had a good life. Thank you to his many friends and especially his family β€” Barb, Stacy, Scott and Laura. They made his journey possible and enjoyable.
