Obituary

Keith Miller, 83, of Mitchell, SD, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM Saturday, April 18, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mitchell. Burial will be at the American Legion Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7:00 PM at the Church with a 6:30 PM Scripture Service. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Keith C. Miller was born on December 9, 1942, to Leo and Helen (Zens) Miller in Epiphany, SD, where he grew up and laid the groundwork for a life defined by honesty, hard work, and devotion to those he loved.

Keith graduated from Farmer High School in 1960, and not long after, he answered the call to serve his country in the United States Army. His time in the military shaped him in lasting ways, reinforcing the discipline and straightforward nature that people came to know and appreciate about him. Keith was never one to beat around the bush. You always knew where you stood with him, and the people in his life respected him deeply for that.

After his service, Keith built a full and meaningful life in Mitchell, SD. He was a dedicated family man who cherished his wife, Delores, and the life they created together. His first job was at Loon Motors. He then started his career at the United States Postal Service, where he worked for 35 years doing various jobs.

Keith had a genuine love for baseball, whether he was playing, watching, talking, or simply enjoying the rhythm of the sport that had been a part of his life for as long as anyone could remember. It was one of those passions that connected him to friends, family, and community.

He was also an active member of his community, belonging to the Moose Lodge and the Catholic Foresters. Keith understood the value of showing up for the people around him, and he did so consistently and without fanfare.

Keith is survived by his loving wife, Delores of 62 years; three sons, Jeffrey (Rita), Chad (Jennifer), and Jason (Jennifer); nine grandchildren: Courtney, Benjamin, Baley, Xavier, Owen, Quinlan, Wyatt, Reily, and Vanessa; and one great-grandchild, Blakely.

Keith lived with a faith that grounded him, and his family takes comfort in knowing he is now at peace in the loving arms of the Lord. His straightforward spirit, his loyalty, and his love will be carried forward by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you remember Keith the way he would have wanted, simply and with heart.

What a beautiful obituary. I first met Keith in the late 1960's as a student at DWU. I had a part time job at the post office, and he was a good friend since then. Delores, you have been such a wonderful friend also, as a babysitter for my kids, and then as an aide in my classroom. I treasure our friendship. It's hard to lose someone you love, but it's a blessing to know that they will no longer suffer. God bless all of Keith's family.
