June Sheperd, 82, of Mitchell, formerly of Greeley, CO, died Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.
June Margaret Sheperd was born June 21, 1941 to Henry and Kathrine (Erbus) Winter on a farm near Windsor, CO. She attended Gilcrest High School and graduated in 1959.
June was united in marriage to William Don Sheperd in 1959. While attending the University of Northern Colorado, she had her first child, Ronda. The family then moved to the Denver area where June helped manage a convenience store. After her husband’s passing, she moved back to Greeley to finish her teaching degree. Upon graduating, June worked for Poudre R-1 School District teaching special education at Lincoln and Lesher Junior High in Ft. Collins, CO. After retirement, June lived in Arizona, Nevada, and finally South Dakota. She enjoyed the different way of life culture in each state. June also loved her dogs dearly.
June is survived by her daughter, Ronda Sheperd of Thorton, CO; sons, Dale of Mitchell and Andrew of Charlotte, NC; sister, Edith Weinmeister of Mesquite, NV; brother, Elton Winter of Grand Junction, CO; two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William and her parents.
