Judith Mae Vander Pol was born January 16, 1944, to John and Nellie Noteboom in Douglas County, SD. She graduated from Corsica High School and was married to Marv Vander Pol. They were blessed with five children: Paula, Bryan, Toni, Joel and Scot. Together, they owned and operated Vander Pol Dragline. Judy put faith and family first. Most of her summers were filled with visiting grandkids. Many trips were made towards Minnesota for kid exchanges. She was always ready with after-school snacks, with Oreo Blizzards being the favorite request. She rarely missed any of her grandkids' activities, including the away games. She enjoyed bringing new life to antique furnishings. She took deep pride in a well-manicured lawn, finding great joy in gardening and planting trees. She also enjoyed sewing, ceramics and choir. Judy was an active member of the First Reformed Church of Mitchell and previously Corsica Christian Reformed Church.
Judy is survived by her children: Paula (Ed) Scherrer of Alabama/Idaho, Bryan (Amy) Vander Pol of Mitchell, Toni Vander Pol of Parkston, Joel Vander Pol of Mitchell, and Scot (Bev) Vander Pol of Mitchell; siblings, Mary Doorn, Gene Noteboom, and Doug Noteboom; grandchildren, Joshua (Emily) Scherrer of Kooskia, Idaho, Matthew (Erica) Scherrer of Salem, AL, Andrew (Naomi) Scherrer of Tucson, AZ, Alyson Vander Pol of Omaha, Wesley (Ashley) Vander Pol of Brookings, Carlie (Sawyer) Strelnieks of Omaha, and Ty Vander Pol of Sioux Falls; great-grandchildren, Kya, Koah, and Lydia Scherrer, Brooks and Reece Vander Pol, and Levi Strelnieks.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Vander Pol; siblings Lois Fischer, Leona Van Roekel, and Ruth Bailey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mitchell Christian School in Judy’s honor.
