John Weins, 77, of Brighton, CO, passed away July 14, 2024, peacefully at his home surrounded by loved ones. A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 2-4:00 PM at his favorite location, “The Shop”; 15770 Colorado Blvd, Brighton, CO 80602.
John Dennis Weins was born on March 9, 1947, to Edward and Lillian Weins in Mitchell, SD. John attended Mitchell High School. John married his beloved wife, Linda Louise Larson in Mitchell, SD, on October 1, 1966. John and Linda went on to have two sons, Todd John and Chad Allen.
John had many occupations, including farming, construction work, delivering milk, and gold mining, but he is mostly known for building his successful construction business, Sakota Builders, Inc. His work took him to several cities and states which led him to his permanent residence in Colorado in 1984.
John loved classic cars. He loved to buy them, fix them up and show them off at Kool Deadwood Nites and different car shows where his cars earned several awards. He collected model trains, RC boats and cars. John had an incredible work ethic but also knew how to have fun. He spent his free time fishing, camping, and golfing. He was known to be fond of popcorn, Coke, Dairy Queen, and burritos. His wit and sense of humor helped him to make friends wherever he went. John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda; sons, Todd (Toni) Weins and Chad (Sherri) Weins; nine grandchildren, Sean Todd, Jonathan Edward, Stephanie Ann, Alexandria Marlow, Jolyn Nicole, Kayla Marie, Brandon Levi, Brooke Alexandra, and Christopher Allen; and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Leo (Mary), Peter (Marlys), and Paul, his sister Sharon (Roger), and many other family members and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Lillian Weins, and two sisters-in-law.
