January 8, 1955 - December 23, 2021Obituary
Janet Borgmann, 66, of White Lake, SD, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at her home surrounded by family, following a two year battle with cancer that had returned for the second time after eight years. A visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Thursday, December 30, 2021, at the Old White Lake High School Gymnasium with a memorial service at 6:30 PM. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.
Janet Louise Borgmann was born in Rapid City, SD on January 8th of 1955 to Harold and Patricia (Collis) Kampff. In 1961, she and her family moved to Roseville, MN, but her love for the Black Hills of SD remained. Janet graduated from Alexander Ramsey High School in 1973. She attended the University of Minnesota for 1 year, where she then worked for an additional 12 years. In 1986, she made the unprecedented move from this large city to a ranch near Promise, SD to work for the Mowrer family, whom she met at the wedding of a college friend.
After meeting Paul in September of 1990, they were united in marriage on October 26th of 1991. On December 22nd of 1993, they welcomed their daughter Lindsay into the world, and on May 11th of 1996, their son Collin was born. They made their home on the Borgmann family farm near White Lake, SD where Janet helped raise sheep, cattle, hogs, and horses. Amongst numerous other responsibilities on the farm, she also worked at the Platte Sale Barn for about 10 years and Pork Storks for 2 years. Janet was very active in the White Lake Community Theater and Aurora County Zoning Board for many years, and she was a member of the Wessington Springs PEO Chapter since 1998. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling in Kimball and Platte on several different leagues, gambling with friends, reading, listening to music, trail riding in the Black Hills, and most of all spending time traveling with her family and friends; especially the trips taken to Europe, Ireland, Jamaica, and Alaska. Janet will be remembered for her outgoing personality and way with humor.
She is survived by her husband, Paul of 30 years; children, Lindsay (Levi) Zobrist of Stickney, SD and Collin (Anastasia) Borgmann of White Lake, SD; mother, Patricia Kampff of Owatonna, MN; sister, Linda (Robert) Peterson of Burnsville, MN and their children Jessica (Greg) Heffling of St.Paul, MN and Jennifer McGarry of Mankato, MN and her children Zoey and Mya; sister Laura (Scott) Blahosky of Owatonna, MN and their children Hannah, Livia and Caitlin; cousins, Doug Hawke of Scottsdale, AZ, Apryl (Jack) McCulloch of La Mirada Hills, CA, Caryn (Jim) Whitesell of El Dorado Hills, CA, and Bill Hilleary of El Dorado Hills, CA; sister-in-law, Ann Borgmann of Linville, Virginia, and many other friends and family.
Janet was preceded in death by her father, Harold Kampff; grandparents, Elmer and Adella Kampff, Stuart and Marion Collis; aunts, Joanie (Jim) Hilleary and Louise (Donald) Hawke; and cousin, Richard Hawke.
A special thanks to the Mitchell Avera Oncology and Home Health/Hospice teams for the compassionate care they provided to Janet.
