Geraldine “Gerry” Marie Oberembt was born on April 15, 1930, to Andrew and Mathilda (Wehner) Fritschen, in Farmer, SD and was the second of five siblings. Gerry attended St. Peter’s Catholic Grade School in Farmer, SD and St. Agatha Catholic High School in Howard, SD.

She married Gerald “Jerry” Oberembt on June 27, 1955. They were married for fifty-seven years. Gerry was employed at Mabee’s Eye Clinic for thirty years as a medical assistant. Her remainder years were spent as a devoted wife and mother.

Gerry was a longstanding member of the Holy Family Catholic Church participating in the Altar Society and volunteering in various capacities. She will be remembered for her deep faith and love for the church, her family, and her friends. Gerry had a talent for decorating and enjoyed gardening and yard work.  Gerry was known for her well-executed garage sales and enjoyed the interactions with those that attended.

She was a proud grandmother of eight grandchildren and enjoyed taking part in their lives and activities. In her later years, she developed quite a sense of humor that she carried to the end.

Lisa so sorry for you loss. I did not know when we talked years ago at ACT that you were related to Fritschen. They sat behind us in church and my uncle purchased land from them. One small world. Peace and comfort in this time of sorrow.
