Douglas John Iverson
Dates
January 18, 1958 - August 30, 2023Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Douglas John Iverson, age 65, on August 30th, 2023, in Mitchell, surrounded by his family.
Douglas, known to many as “John,” was a man of passion and dedication.
John was born January 18th, 1958, to Mervin and Gloria (Max) Iverson in Mitchell. While growing up, many may have known him as “Butsy”, given the attribute of his very discernible cleft chin. John was the starting quarterback for the MHS Kernels in his graduating year of 1976.
His love for the car business was evident to all who knew him, and he dedicated his life to it. John was passionate about his work at Iverson Auto. His memory will live on in the community he loved, which he dedicated his life to serving. He lived to see Iverson’s in its 75th year of business, a crowning achievement to capstone his career.
John’s legacy lives on through the memories we shared and the beautiful cars he meticulously maintained. John had an extraordinary talent for collecting and restoring classic Mopar muscle cars, a passion that brought him joy. John also loved his Weimaraner dogs as hunting companions; he treated them as family. There was never a time where you’d find John without his “kids”.
He leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his memory, including his two sons and 5 grandchildren, John (Rachael) Iverson (Oliver, Sawyer & Gunnar) and Austen (Morgan) Iverson (Finley & Archer), his Weimaraners (Shadow & Hemi), and his partner EliMae Stubbe, who will continue to honor him.
John’s spirit, warm smile, and unwavering support were a source of comfort to those fortunate enough to know him. His love and kindness left an indelible mark on our lives. In his honor, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man deeply loved.
Please join us Friday, September 22, at Iverson’s upper-lot for a celebration of life beginning at 3:00 pm. Those who wish to honor John are welcome to bring, display and share their love for classic cars.

What a great loss.

I got the impression those lines of age across his face must have been from his broad and perpetual smile. A good man gone but not forgotten. Rest in peace friend.
RIP piece good buddy. You will be missed.
