Dorothy Huber, 90, of Emery, SD, was called to glory Friday, July 22, 2022, at her home under hospice care in rural Emery. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday, July 29, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Clayton, SD with burial to follow in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7:00 PM at St. Peter’s Church. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Dorothy Hilda Huber was born June 2, 1932. Her parents were Herman & Emma (Mehlhaf) Wollmann.

Dorothy grew up in the Olivet area. She was baptized at St John’s Lutheran Church in Kaylor, South Dakota and was confirmed in Menno at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Dorothy was employed at the Menno movie theatre, as a switchboard operator in Scotland & at the Menno lumber yard as a bookkeeper.

Dorothy married Orville R. Huber on August 22, 1954 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Menno. They farmed together in Clayton and were blessed with Terell, Delyle, Jeanne, Melanie, and Deanna. They were longtime members of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Clayton where Dorothy often played the organ and sang for church services, weddings, and various events.

Orville and Dorothy loved to travel, were very involved with the community, church, children’s activities and schools. One of the greatest blessings she has taught her children is her love and faith in God and her love and dedication to Orville.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, Orville; children: Terry & wife Mary Jo Huber; Joan (Delyle) Huber; Jeanne & husband Daryl Schorsten; Melanie & husband Randy Miller; and Deanna & husband Courtney Clayborne. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Sarah & Brett Vandersnick and great-grandchildren, Jackson & Elise; Andrew & Kelly Huber and great-grandson Brooks; Jonathan Huber; Kristina & Zach White and great-grandson Theo; Marie Huber; Lindsey Morr & Fil Szyller; Madison & Bailey Riddle; Marissa & Cam Meyer and great-grandson Dax; Shannon & Greg Mehlbrech; Cody Miller & Mikayla Hastreiter; Jared Miller; Seth Clayborne; Kyli Clayborne; Ashley Clayborne; and sister, Gertie Metter.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her son Delyle Huber; her parents; granddaughter, Elizabeth Huber; brother, Elmer Wollman; sister, Esther Herrboldt; and son-in-law, Ron Morr.
