Don Radel, 66, of Mitchell, SD, died Saturday, April 1, 2023, at his home in Mitchell. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, April 6, at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Mitchell with a visitation one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell at a later date. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Donald Steven Radel was born March 19, 1957, to Donald and Virginia (Tobin) Radel in Mitchell. Don grew up in Mitchell and attended Mitchell High School. Don was in Boy Scouts growing up and earned his Eagle Scout. After high school, he worked at the Mitchell Police Department. He then went to the Sheriff’s Office where he worked for 42 years until retirement.
Don married Gayle Winship in 1984, until her passing December 23, 1995. To this union, two daughters were born, Rachel and Laura. In 2003 Don married Carol Conway. They enjoyed camping in the Black Hills and target shooting.
Don is survived by his wife, Carol; daughters, Rachel (Shaun Osby) Radel and Laura Radel; mother, Virginia; stepchildren, Steve (Connie) Harr and Erin (David) Allen; grandsons, Trevor (Jenna) Allen, Travis (fiancé Amber) Allen, and Tanner Allen; two sisters, Sandra (Don) Walker and Cynthia (Bob) Unruh; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gayle, and his father, Donald.
