Devona Nolz, 89, of Mitchell, SD, died Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Avera Brady Health & Rehab in Mitchell. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM Friday, October 18, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mitchell. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7:00 PM at Bittner Funeral Chapel with a 6:30 PM prayer service.

Devona Katherine Nolz was born on May 18, 1935, to Nicholas and Leona (Thelen) Weber at Parkston, SD.  She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Parkston and graduated from high school in 1953.

On November 17, 1956, she married Alvin Nolz of Delmont, SD. Together they had three children, Sharon, David, and Dennis. They farmed near Delmont for four years and then moved to a farm southwest of Mount Vernon, where they lived for nine years. In 1970, they purchased a farm northeast of Mitchell, SD, and lived there until they moved into Mitchell in 1990.

Devona was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and Altar Society. She was a Catholic Aid member of Saint Mary of Parkston, SD for over 50 years and a member of the Friday Lunch Bunch.  In her spare time, Devona enjoyed traveling on bus tours, polka dancing, playing cards, gardening and reading.

Devona is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Daniel) Park of Sioux Falls; sons, David (Peggy) Nolz of Mitchell and Dennis (Kelli) Nolz of Garretson; grandchildren: Travis, Jodi, Christa, Amanda, Courtney, Kaley, Emily, Andy, and Erin; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Sally (Alfred) Hohn; and sisters-in-law, Esther Weber, Regina Nolz, and Mary Ellen Weber.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin, her parents, and 11 siblings.
