Dennis Beckmann, 62, of White Lake, SD, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Aurora-Brule Nursing Home in White Lake after a long struggle with cancer. Visitation will be Monday, February 17, from 5-7:00 PM with a 6:30 PM Scripture Service at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in White Lake. Private family Funeral Mass and burial will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church and Cemetery. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.
Dennis Wayne Beckmann was born March 2, 1962, in Mitchell, SD to Robert and Irene (Kluthe) Beckmann. He grew up on a farm southeast of White Lake. Dennis graduated from White Lake High School and moved to Walter and Lawrence Kluthe’s south of White Lake where he lived the rest of his life.
Dennis was a farmer. He never went far from home. He was always there to help one of the brothers or a friend. He was always up for a good time and a Busch light. Dennis and his brother, Doug, also raised many sheep. We all have enjoyed many stories of being at the sheep barn. Dennis proudly continued the Hereford cattle line begun by Uncles Walter and Lawrence. He entertained many hunters throughout the years and cherished his many friends. Dennis had a special love for his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He was a member of the St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
Dennis didn’t want anyone to know he was sick. He didn’t want the sympathy. He wanted to continue with some normalcy and didn’t ever slow down until he physically couldn’t anymore. He was the most stubborn man you’ve ever met, but also the toughest. He fought the good fight until the end.
Dennis is survived by his two sisters, LaVonne (Bill) Olinger of Emery, and Mary Jo (Duane) Beckman of White Lake; five brothers, Dick (Sharon), Dale (Donna), Doug (Barb), Dave, and Dan Beckmann all of White Lake; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Irene Beckmann; sister, Karen; and grandparents, Marie and Henry Beckmann.
Dennis was known by so many and loved by all. His life will not be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Dennis to the Aurora County Cancer Fund; c/o Mary Jo Beckman, 25660 379th Ave, White Lake, SD 57383
