Obituary

David M. Peterson, 68, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away Friday, April 25, 2025, at Ava’s Hospice House in Sioux Falls. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, June 19, at East Side Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Burial will be at 10:00 AM Friday, June 20, at the South Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Sioux Falls. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor his memory. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

In Loving Memory of David Merle Peterson 1956 - 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David Merle Peterson, who left us far too soon. A man known for his infectious laugh and unmatched ability to bring humor to the room, he leaves behind countless memories filled with warmth, wit, and joy.

David is preceded in death by his loving parents, Richard and Margaret Peterson; his wife, Jean Peterson; and brother, Dale Peterson.

He is survived by his daughters, Jessie Fri and Stacie (Phillip) Plemons; his son, Tyson (Debbra) Anderson; sisters, Janet Garner, Marjorie Peterson (Bob Cenci), and Jennifer (Brian) Neumeyer; brothers, Rick (Tonya) Peterson, Donnie (Paula) Peterson, and Doug Peterson; grandchildren: David Fri III, Dylan Fri, Haley (Brooks) Werk, Phillip Plemons Jr (fiancé Abby Watlington), Jackson Plemons, Rebekah Plemons, Abby Anderson (fiancé Nick Foster), and Harrison (Kendall) Anderson; great-grandchildren, Judson, Elisabeth, Elliot, and Elanor; and his beloved niece, Michelle (Cary) Frederickson whose devoted care and presence brought him great comfort in his final years.
