David Hohn, 69, of Mitchell, SD, passed away Friday, July 12, 2024, at Prairie View Healthcare Center in Woonsocket. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 17, from 5-7:00 PM at Bittner Funeral Chapel with a 6:30 PM prayer service. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell.
David Edward Hohn was born on November 23, 1954, to Florian and Caroline (Weins) Hohn. Known to all as Dave, he was a passionate motorhead whose love for cars and racing defined much of his life. Dave was deeply involved in automotive repair and racing from a young age, often seen at Thundervalley Dragway racing his Vega. His exceptional skills as a welder enabled him to maintain a successful career in welding throughout much of his life.
Dave’s life was a testament to hard work and dedication. His career allowed him to utilize his welding skills fully, and his expertise extended to every aspect of car maintenance and repair. Whether it was a motor issue or a paint job, Dave was always willing to lend a hand and share his extensive knowledge. If he wasn't at home tinkering on cars, you could find him in a hot rod shirt and jeans, enjoying a cigarette, and frequently stopping by M & H gas station to fill his red mug with an ice cold fountain Coke.
Dave was a proud father to four children: Melissa, Jamie, Lee, and Clarisa. He was always just a phone call away, ready to offer support, and a helping hand whenever needed. He was an excellent father, grandfather, and friend.
Dave is survived by his children, Jamie (Cody) Faas of Letcher, Lee Hohn (Kerry Levey) of Midland, TX, and Clarisa Hohn (Jordan Muntefering) of Mitchell. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Jayson Hohn, Kaleb Hohn, Zachary Thuringer, Kenzah Hohn, Kaizen Brooks, and Kazzie Muntefering.
Dave is preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Hohn; grandsons, Stacey Hohn and Kyle Hohn; parents, Florian and Caroline Hohn; and siblings, DeWayne Hohn, Larry Hohn, and Diana Hohn.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be directed toward funeral expenses.
Dave will be deeply missed by his family and those who had the privilege of knowing him.
