Obituary

Darren Feistner, 56, of Dimock, SD, passed away Friday, August 15, 2025, in Crestview, FL. A Memorial Service will be 10:30 AM Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Darren Paul Feistner was born on April 4, 1969, in Lane, South Dakota, to Leonard Feistner and LouAnn Dejong. Worked in the commercial asphalt industry.

On October 18, 2006, Darren married Sherry in Mitchell, SD, and the couple made their home in Dimock.

Darren Feistner was a man who truly enjoyed the simple things in life and the people he loved most. He had a passion for working on vehicles and could often be found fixing cars, helping friends, or lending a hand to anyone who needed it. Darren was the Kind of person who would put other people's needs before his own, never hesitating to help someone out, especially when it came to repairing a vehicle or solving a problem.

One of the things that meant the most to Darren was spending time working alongside his son at their shop together, sharing conversations, working on vehicles, and simply being side by side. Those memories were very special to him and brought him a great sense of pride and happiness.

Above all else, Darren loved his children deeply. He was in life. Darren had been looking forward to a vacation to Florida to spend time with her and make special memories together. Sadly, shortly after arriving in Florida, Darren unexpectedly passed away and only had a couple of days with her. Even so, these moments together became deeply meaningful memories. His family meant the world to him, and he was proud of each one of them. Before his passing, one of the things he looked forward to most was becoming a grandfather. He was so excited to meet his granddaughter and talked about how much he wanted to spoil her and love her.

Although Darren sadly passed away before she was born, he knew she was coming and carried so much happiness and excitement in his heart during those final months. The love he already had for his granddaughter was undeniable, and that love will forever remain part of her story.

Darren also loved cooking and smoking food on the grill for family and friends. Gathering people together, sharing meals, laughing, and spending time with those he cared about brought him happiness. Darren treasured friendships and enjoyed being surrounded by people.

Darren loved spending time in Yankton, SD. He enjoyed camping, boating, watching people fish along the river, and taking in the peaceful outdoors. In his younger years, he also enjoyed participating in tractor pulls and spending time with family and friends, making memories that would stay with him throughout his life.

Darren also enjoyed playing Bingo with his family and friends. Those times brought him a lot of joy, laughter, and special memories with the people he loved. One of Darren's greatest joys was his beloved dog, Chloe. (Monster). The two were inseparable and went everywhere together. Chloe was more than a pet to Darren. She was his loyal companion and brought him comfort, happiness, and unconditional love. Anyone who knew Darren knew how much he loved Chloe and how special their bond truly was.

Darren will be remembered for his caring heart, willingness to help others, and the kindness he showed to so many people. The memories he created with family and friends will forever be treasured and Kept close in the hearts of those who loved him. He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered every day.

Darren is survived by his wife, Sherry Feistner of Dimock, SD; children, Timothy Harmelink of Tripp, SD, Melinda Harmelink of Freeport, FL, and Christina Wells of Mitchell, SD; mother, LouAnn Feistner; sisters, Kristi and Wendy Feistner of South Dakota; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Feistner, and his father-in-law, Charles Harmelink.
