Obituary

Darrell Bennett Sr., 79, of Mitchell, SD, died Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at his home in Mitchell. Funeral arrangements are pending under the direction of Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Darrell Bennett Sr. was born on April 17, 1942 in Abraham, West Virginia to Kyle Bennett and Flossie Pack. On November 11, 1961, he married Shirley Ann Buckland. He joined the Army in April 1967, and served until April 1972. He was a captain upon his honorable discharge.

They moved to Mitchell in 1995. Darrell was a loving and caring father, sibling, and uncle. His knowledge, loving ways, and family-mindedness will be greatly missed and loved, but never forgotten.

He is survived by his son, Darrell K. Bennett II of Mitchell, and one brother, Chester Bennett of Alabama.

So very sorry to hear of Darrellâ€™s passing. He was a kind neighbor and a great conversationalist. We had many long talks. He led an interesting life. We will miss you, Darrell!
