Dana Hansen, 53, of Mt. Vernon, SD, died Friday, June 27, 2025, due to a motor vehicle accident. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Thursday, July 3, at First Reformed Church in Mitchell. Burial will be at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7:00 PM at First Reformed Church. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.
Dana Harlan Hansen was born on May 5, 1972, to Varland and Lindale (Nickels) Hansen in Mitchell, SD. He graduated from Ethan High School in 1991.
Dana's Monte Carlo SS, Suzuki sport bike, and Ski-Doo snowmobile were his pride and joy. He always had a love for speed. Dana enjoyed watching the Florida State Seminoles, Michigan Wolverines, and the “old” Oakland Raiders football teams. Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. were his NASCAR drivers. Dana’s favorite holiday was the 4th of July when he could shoot off fireworks. Dana was known to have a contagious laugh and a sense of humor. Dana’s music of choice was Metallica and ’80s hair bands. His daughters were his world. He loved attending their sporting or music events, and tried his best to be there. He was so proud of them.
Dana worked at Happy Chef, where he made many memories and friends. Dana worked for Edinger Bros. Farms until his passing. Dana loved his Job as a farmer. He made many friends along the way, whether it be a coworker, a custom crew, or just sitting in line at the elevators.
Dana is survived by his three daughters, Sheridan, Brooklyn, and Lauryn Hansen, and their mother Nicole all of Mt. Vernon, SD; sister-in-law, Carey Hansen Adams (Devin & Ashlynn); and his Pollard/Vermeulen relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Varland and Lindale; brother, Jared Hansen (2018); grandparents; nephews, Mahlon, Jasper, Rhett Pollard.

We will love and miss you forever. Your girls are missing you terribly but we will do our best to keep your memory alive in them and we will also always be there for them and Nicole. Your work is done on earth but now you can rest in peace with your brother, mom, and dad. Love you always 💓
