Cyril Haag, 91, of Fulton, SD, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at his home in Fulton, SD. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, August 14, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 13, from 5-7:00 PM at Holy Family Catholic Church with a 6:30 PM prayer service.
Cyril Charles Haag was born on August 19, 1933, to Joseph and Rose Haag. Cyril was baptized at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Dimock, SD. Cyril attended school till the 8th grade, then he worked on the family farm until he enlisted in the US Army. Cyril proudly served overseas in Korea as a Corporal SP3(T) for 2 years.
Cyril met the love of his life, JoAnn Leitheiser, at a dance in Dimock, SD. He married her on November 5, 1957, in Emery, SD. Their first home was in Dimock for 4 years. In 1965, they moved to the current farm in Fulton. They farmed there for 60+ years. Cyril and JoAnn together milked cows for 50+ years. They spent countless hours together caring for the dairy farm and doing fieldwork with their children. Cyril worked for General Hoist and Body and KC Trailers for 12 years. In 1990, Cyril and Kevin owned and operated C & K Truck Equipment for 5 years before moving the business to the farm.
Cyril was a member of the Knights of Columbus since the age of 18. Cyril will be fondly remembered for his late-night ice cream treat, popcorn snack, playing cards, gardening, famous sweet corn, sausage making while butchering, word searches, watching the Lone Ranger, watching Mass on TV, and bouncing grandchildren on his knee. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a very generous man, with time and talent to spare for his family and neighbors.
Cyril is survived by his wife, JoAnn Haag of Mitchell; children, Michael (Carolyn) Haag of Fulton, Linda Wilkins of Fulton, Janet Kampshoff and Lenny of Fulton, Barbara (David) Schulte of Mitchell, Michelle (Kevin) Buehner of Brandon, Kevin (Tracy) Haag of Mitchell, Karen (Dwight) Nedved of Twin Brooks, Gary (Amy) Haag of Fulton, Denise Hughes of Mitchell, Daniel (Nichole) Haag of Montrose, Susan (Chad) Holsworth of Bowdle, Terrance Haag of Fulton, Chad (Sherry) Haag) of Alexandria; brother, Allen (Ann) Haag of Ethan; 2 sister-in-law, Alida (Ivan) of Parkston and Roseann (Donald) of Sturgis; 54 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren; and soon to be one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Haag; his parents; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; three sisters; two brothers; son in-law; and grandson in-law.
