Charles "Chuck" Mueller, 70, formerly of Mt. Vernon, SD, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 29, 2025, at his home in Mitchell. Memorial services will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 8, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Dimock, with burial and fellowship to follow. Visitation will be on Monday, July 7, from 5-7:00 PM at Bittner Funeral Chapel with a 6:30 PM prayer service.

Charles Lee Mueller was born May 11, 1955, to Elmer and Elda Mueller of Mt. Vernon, SD. Chuck was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, in rural Dimock. He attended school in Mt. Vernon and graduated in 1973. After graduating from high school, Chuck attended Mitchell Votech in Mitchell, SD for auto mechanics.

Chuck married Theresa Schulz on June 10th, 1986, and they raised three children together on the family farm, south of Mt. Vernon. Following their divorce, Chuck moved to Mitchell, where he resided in a large home close to Main Street, so he could easily get to events uptown, such as concerts or basketball games.

Chuck was a second-generation dairy farmer and ran a successful dairy operation, Char-Ther Farms, established in 1983 south of Mt. Vernon, SD. They raised registered Holstein dairy cows and was one of the first farms in the area that utilized embryo transplants in dairy cattle. He also enjoyed woodworking, welding, and making and designing things by hand. Chuck was an active member of Resurrection Lutheran Church, Mitchell, SD.

He is survived by his three children: Jessica Mueller, Victoria Mueller (Clayton Walsh), and Justin Mueller (Donna Schneider); one granddaughter, Cedar; two brothers, Darrell (Marilyn) and Douglas (Bev) Mueller; and numerous nieces, nephews, step nephews and step nieces.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Elda Mueller.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a charity to be determined by the family.
