Carolyn Morrison, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, age 76, of Mitchell, SD, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, June 28, from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM at Bittner Funeral Chapel, with a reception immediately following at the Depot in Mitchell.

Carolyn Ruth Morrison was born on January 25, 1948, in Mitchell, to Floyd Sr. and Myrtle (Davis) Morrison. Carolyn spent her formative years surrounded by her 13 siblings, who affectionately called her by, Ruthie.

Growing up in Mitchell, she attended the elementary school right across the road from the family house. In ninth grade, she went to Mitchell Jr High. At that time, she decided she wanted to be called Carolyn. She attended high school at Mitchell Sr. High. Once she graduated, she went to National College of Business in Rapid City, graduating with her degree in business.

After college, Carolyn's life journey took her to Wyoming, Colorado, and California before she eventually returned back home to South Dakota. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Christi, and a doting grandmother to her cherished granddaughters, Tryniti and Trystin. Her love for her family was evident in every aspect of her life.

A passionate gardener, Carolyn found joy and tranquility in nurturing her plants and flowers. Her green thumb was rivaled only by her talent in the kitchen. She was known far and wide for her exceptional baking skills, leaving behind treasured recipes for brownies, rolls, and sloppy joes that will continue to delight her family for generations.

Carolyn had a deep love for animals and shared her home with many beloved dogs and cats throughout her life. Her fondness for Elvis Presley was well-known, and his music brought her much happiness.

Carolyn's warm heart, vibrant spirit, and generous nature touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be remembered for her kindness, her laughter, and the unconditional love she gave to her family and friends.

Carolyn is survived by her large family. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished in our hearts.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Christi (Mike) Pierson of Mitchell, SD; granddaughters, Tryniti (Logan Breitweiser) Smith of Seattle, WA and Trystin Smith of Amsterdam, Netherlands; sisters: Vivian DeJong of Craig, CO, Shirley Bowman of Mitchell, SD, Beverly Perry of Spearfish, SD, Karen (Dave) Jorgenson of Mitchell, SD, and Cheryl (Greg) Deis of Destrehan, LA; brothers: Floyd Jr. (Shirley) Morrison of Michell, SD, Walter “Sonny” (Shirley) Morrison of Mitchell, SD, Lloyd “Buddy” (Jane) Morrison of Mitchell, SD, and Darwin “Butch” (Jean) Morrison of Mitchell, SD; previous husbands, James Bernard and Larry Reed Fisher; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Douglas Morrison; sisters: Evelyn (Leland) Walters, Mary (Eugene) Doering, and Darlene (Marion) Knutson; brothers-in-law: Don DeJong, Samuel Perry, and Dean Bowman; niece, Vicky Knutson; and nephew, Joey Morrison.
