Carol Margaret (Konechne) Schroeder, 61, of White Lake, SD, passed away Monday, December 9, 2024, at Aurora-Brule Care and Rehab in White Lake. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 AM Friday, December 13, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in White Lake. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7:00 PM at the Church with a 6:30 PM prayer service. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Carol was born January 31, 1963, to Lester and JoAnn (Overweg) Konechne in Platte, SD. She graduated from White Lake High School in 1981. Carol then attended Mitchell Votech, graduating from the LPN program in 1983. Carol was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1989.

Carol worked at Aurora-Brule Nursing Home and Chamberlain Hospital. As a homemaker, she raised her two sons, Wyatt and Waylon. Carol was a CRE instructor for 2nd-grade students, was secretary for the White Lake Ambulance for 14 years, and led a support group for M.S.

Carol married Tom Schroeder on February 5, 1999, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in White Lake.

Carol was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in White Lake and a member of Catholic Daughters.

Carol enjoyed crocheting blankets for her grandkids, fishing, sightseeing, camping, cooking and most importantly family time. Carol and her sisters always enjoyed their days together.

Carol is survived by her husband, Tom Schroeder of 25 years; mother, JoAnn Konechne; sons, Wyatt (Kara) Krumvieda of White Lake, SD and Waylon (Stephanie) Krumvieda of Salol, MN; step-son, Lee Schroeder (Kelly) of Upton, WY; step-daughter, Amy (Brian) Hosman of Sioux Falls, SD; nine grandchildren; brothers, Mike (Estelle) Konechne, Marvin (Monica) Konechne, Merlin (Jacki) Konechne, Roger (Kerri) Konechne and Ron (Jessica) Konechne; sisters, Rita (Gregg) Sly, Kathey (Brad) Mutziger, Julie Stock, Karen Zimmerman, and Jane (Tim) Mehlhaff; sister-in-law, Lisa Konechne; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lester Konechne, and brothers, Mark, Gary, and Wayne Konechne.
