Carol Ann McManus was born March 7, 1935, near Fulton, SD, to George and Neva (LaDue) Lienemann.

She attended K-12 in Fulton and graduated as a valedictorian of her class at Fulton High School.

Carol married her high school sweetheart, Chester McManus, on August 26, 1952, at Fulton UM Church. Carol loved being a full-time mom and loved living on the farm and raising her children there.  She spent her time on the farm helping prepare meals during planting and harvest time. When her children left home, she would pack up her snacks and go to the field to disc throughout the day.

Carol spent many hours helping at church as a Sunday School teacher, helping with the Good News club after-school program, working in the nursery, and attending Bible Studies.

Her biggest joy was her family, as was evident by her walls covered with collages of pictures. She would come at any time she was called to spend time with her grandchildren.  All of us remember her cinnamon rolls that she made every time someone would come to visit at the farm. Carol loved cooking and baking favorites for her grandchildren. She knew the smell of cinnamon rolls and coffee would bring a dining room together full of family and friends. She would always have requests for mac and cheese, peach pies, ice cream, etc., ready upon arrival. Carol truly had a servant's heart for friends and family.

She is survived by five children: Lynette (Dan) Wagner, Sioux Falls; Scott (Darla) McManus, Fulton; Craig (Lisa) McManus, Alexandria; Janell (Jon) Tolly, Waconia, MN; and Phil (Holley) McManus, Parker, CO; 15 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester, parents, George and Neva Lienemann, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Francis and Minnie McManus, a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Lee Lienemann.

In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the First United Methodist Church-stained glass fund.

I so sorry for the loss of your beautiful mother.
I have very fond memories of being at their farm when Lynette and I were roommates in the mid 70's AT DWU. Heaven certainly gained another sweet angel. Perhaps her and my mom are visiting about our college days.
Hugs and prayers to all of the McManus family.

Knowing my dear friend Carol is with the Lord hurts my heart, and makes me smile at the same time. We attended many Sunday morning Bible studies together at Northridge Baptist Church, and checked up on each other weekly during the COVID-19. We continued our visits to solve the world's problems as her health allowed. Rest in peace my friend.

I first met carol at a bible study and we became friends from then on. She loved her family and that was her main conversation. I had coffee at her house several times and we would get in her pickup and look at the crops. I remember the first time she told me about ground cover (ie radish). I had never heard that and then off for pizza at Alexandria. What a sweet and kind lady. May God wrap his loving arms around her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
