Brian L. Johnson, 71, of Mitchell, SD, died Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Avera Brady Health and Rehab in Mitchell. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday, November 7, at Bittner Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-3:00 PM at Bittner Funeral Chapel. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.
Brian L. Johnson was born January 25, 1951, to Leland and Helen (Smith) Johnson in Belmond, IA. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1969.
Brian was united in marriage to Mitzie Allen on April 15, 1972 in Mitchell.
Brian was employed with Martin & Associates, and later with CHR as the Senior Director of the outside plant.
Brian was active in the Mitchell community, serving on the Mitchell Parks and Recreation Board for several years, the Lakeview Golf and Cemetery Board, as president of the Mitchell Quarterback Club, and was also a member of the Mitchell Barbershop Chorus. Brian was an avid golfer and coached boys slow-pitch softball.
Brian is survived by his wife, Mitzie; son, Cory (Joanne) of Sioux Falls; daughter, Chris (Jim) Cranny of Mitchell; grandchildren, Jordyn, Owen, and Aiden; brother, Dan (Lillie) Johnson of Mitchell; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Patty (Gil) Brown of TX, Ron Allen of TX, Sandy (Mark) McKillop of WY, Dan (Lori) Allen, Dave (Julie) Allen, Tim (Cindy) Allen, Becky (Kevin) Riggs, and Sue Allen all of Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin sister, Linda; brothers, Dale and Roger Johnson; and brother-in-law, Ken Allen.
