Betty Puetz, 90, of Mitchell, SD, died Monday, November 13, 2023, at Edgewood Memory Care in Mitchell. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday, November 17, at Bittner Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7:00 PM at Bittner Funeral Chapel with a 6:30 PM prayer service.

Betty Jean Puetz was born October 13, 1933, to Fred and Anna (Nuebel) Jung. She attended grade school at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Dimock, SD, and Parkston High School.

Betty was united in marriage to Sylvester “S” Puetz on September 20, 1955, in Dimock.

Betty worked as a telephone operator before they bought the motel. She lived and worked at the motel for 15 years, it was a 24/7 365 days a year job! She was able to get away every Thursday night to bowl with friends.  After selling the motel, she worked at Ben Franklin and Hallmark, as well as helping S at the bar, working the ice cream store, and always volunteering at the church. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and altar society. Betty also loved making rosaries and made thousands of them to give away.

Betty is survived by her son, Randy Puetz; daughter, Nancy (Mike) Rissky; four grandchildren, Matthew Puetz, Hayleigh Puetz, Kiley (Casey) Rissky Mutschler, and Jenna (LT) Rissky Herman; two great-grandchildren, Dylan Margaret Herman and Callie Marie Herman; sisters, Jackie Schnabel and Devona Finkenbiner both of Mitchell; and brother, Don Jung of Denver, CO.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester; her parents; two grandchildren, Sara and Eric Puetz; and three sisters, Lorraine Weber, LouAnn Eimers, and Celine Fergen.
