Bessie Lehr, 97, of Emery, SD, died Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Tieszen Memorial Home in Marion, SD. A private family funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church in Emery. Burial will be at Emery Community Cemetery. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Representing the Hoffman family, Walter, Phyllis, Wendell and myself (Warren) I want to express our sincere condolences to Bessie's family. Our experience with Roger and Bessie was in the 1970's when we were just kids - but my recollection of Bessie is one of joy, hospitality, curiosity, grace, faith and welcome. She was also a fierce advocate and I loved her passion for life. She was as we all know, a very classy lady and quick witted. We mourn with you her passing, but we do not mourn without hope. We shall meet again.
