Belinda Young, 65, of Mitchell, SD, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2025, at her home in Mitchell. Visitation will be Friday, September 19, from 5-7:00 PM at Bittner Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 20, at Sunset Memorial Park in Mitchell with fellowship to follow at JADeS; 107 N Main St., Mitchell.
Belinda Rose Young was a woman of small stature and huge presence. She was sharp, creative, and tough. Her fight with cancer ended on September 07, 2025.
Born March 18, 1960, her life was defined by strong family ties, friendships, and breaking barriers. Like Rosie-the-Riveter, she mastered the male-dominated field of welding in a career that spanned nearly four decades. She welded at both Trail King and Hendrickson.
In 1994, Belinda’s life was forever changed when she met her soulmate, Michele Lesaar (Micki). Their loving companionship lasted for the rest of her life. Together they enjoyed cats, The Wizard of Oz, and gardening.
Belinda was an avid reader. Her favorite author was Anne Rice. Her other hobbies and creativities included horse riding, metal art, and cribbage (she won the last game she played).
She is survived by, her love Micky; children, Erik and Natalie Kafka, Rose and Nick Zachariasen, and Stephanie and Levi McClelland; siblings Bonnie and Maylon Schuh, Bob and Sandy Young, Bev Mowry, Brenda Young, Randy and Tammy Young, Roger and Shari Young, Rolly and Noreen Young, Russel and Vicky Young, Rex and Tammy Young, Beth and Steve Lillie; grandchildren, Branawen Kafka, Jayce Kafka, Xander Zachariasen, Madeline Kafka, Thaleia Kafka; and her countless nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and her horse, Jasper.
Belinda was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Pat Young, and nieces, Zebrina (Young) Gukeisen and Heather Hoeltzner.
