Barbara Kay Carroll was born July 31, 1938, to Frank and Faye (Gardner) Williams in Mitchell, SD. Barb graduated from Stickney High School, and then attended Presentation College for nursing.

Barb was united in marriage to Kenneth Carroll on October 10, 1957 in Stickney, SD. To this union, seven children were born. The bigger the family gathering, the more the merrier! One of Barb’s best decisions in life was having children. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. Barb loved all sports, especially attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. She also loved golfing and bowling.

Barb had a servant heart, filled with so much joy and full of unconditional love. Her family was everything to her. She knew Jesus as her Lord and Savior, and showed it in her life.

Barb is survived by her husband, Ken; children: Kimberly (Tom) Young of Mitchell, Mike (Kathy) Carroll of Sioux City, IA, Linda (Cory) Hofer of Bridgewater, Connie (Doug) Krantz of Surprise, AZ, Lori (Jim) Bertus of Norfolk, NE, Patti (Shawn) Haley of Mitchell, and Mary Jo (Cooper) Garnos of Presho; and 23 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Harriet; and two grandsons, Jacob and Christian.

I just became aware of Barb's death this evening and I am saddened to learn this. Barb and I had many things in common going back to high school days and Dakota Wesleyan Homecoming Band where we first met as high school girls. Little did I know how many experiences we'd have later in life as we managed the Westview Apartments and etc. I met many of the girls during those days as they helped us with different things. Everyone of you was charming, helpful and fun.....Just like your mom.......It was my pleasure to know Barb who had a very patient and fun loving personality. I am sorry about her death and I send my caring thoughts to you, Kenny, and all the family.

May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory be a blessing that continues to inspire those who were touched by her presence. She was a good & faithful card player, & a special kernel fan, plus a great hostess for Super Bowl games. God Bless her family during these difficult days. I will be with you guys at her funeral.

Grandma, I’ll miss putting together bird puzzles with you or watching our favorite crime shows like Blue Blood while enjoying a bowl of ice cream. You were the best grandma, and truly a woman of so much joy, strength, and resilience…oh and so much patience! I hope to be half the woman you are some day. Until we meet again, Grandma. Love you!
