Obituary

Ann Rittenhouse-Page, 89, of Mitchell/Plankinton, SD, died Friday, September 20, 2024, at Avera Brady Health and Rehab under hospice care in Mitchell surrounded by her family. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 25, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mitchell. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 24, from 5-7:00 at Bittner Funeral Chapel with a 6:30 PM prayer service.

Ann Marie Devlin was born September 22, 1934 in Woodman Township, Wisconsin to James and Margaret (Cavanaugh) Devlin. Her family consisted of five half-brothers, one half-sister, one full brother, and one full sister. Following her father's death when she was eight, her mother moved with her three young children to Dubuque, Iowa. There she was educated at Saint Raphael Cathedral and at Saint Joesph Academy.

On April 7, 1951, she married William (Bill) Rittenhouse, who worked primarily as a Sales Manager for Prudential Insurance Company and then switched to the motel business, building or buying a series of ten motels. Following a long illness, Bill passed away on December 16, 1995. On May 1, 1999, Ann married Dr. Charles Krall who died on June 8, 2006. She later married Hershell Page on October 23, 2010, and moved to his home in Plankinton and wintered in Mesa, Arizona. Hershell died on July 29, 2022.

For most of her life, she was a stay-at-home mother, enjoying her family. She also enjoyed helping out in the family business., volunteering at Brady Nursing Home, being involved in Bible Study, being a Cub Scout den mother, Girl Scouts leader and Toastmistress Club, 20th Century Club, Catholic Daughters and Pro-life work. She was a life-long Catholic, belonging more recently for 30 years to Holy Spirit Catholic Church where she was a lector. Travel was another delight, traveling through all 50 states and 30 foreign countries.

Ann is survived by her five daughters, Diann Rittenhouse, Terri (Monty) Losey, Jayne Tillery, Paula (Rod) Heida, and Charlene (Jeff) Hughes; two sons, Robert (Marla) Rittenhouse and Ron (Pam) Rittenhouse; 18 grandchildren, including Tracy (who was raised by her grandparents), and 16 great-grandchildren; brother, John Devlin; and sister-in-law, Helen Devlin Cram. Ann enjoyed six stepchildren and their families from the Krall family and nine stepchildren and their families from the Page family.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, two sisters, one niece, one nephew, and one son-in-law, Danny Tillery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Red Cloud Indian School, 100 Mission Drive, Pine Ridge, SD 57770, or to any pro-life cause.

I iwill always remember her kindness and patience. As teenagers, we did the usual and she still smiled and made us get up Sunday for mass. I have thought of her often over the years with a smile and gratitude. Her heart and hands have touched so many and I being one.

My sympathy to Ann's family. I worked for Ann at the Super 8 in Huron several years ago. It was my privilege to work for such a wonderful Christian lady. Heaven is gaining a beautiful Angel.

I met Ann through my best friend, Ann's sister-Pat. I was fortunate to become friends with Ann because of Pat. Ann was fun, intelligent, kind, generous and faith-filled! I am blest to have called her a friend. I send my condolences to her family💜🌺

I was fortunate to meet Ann wh r n I was involved with Choice Hotels Internationals. Later when she became Mrs. Page. Ann was a lovely lady and always enjoyed the conventions or anywhere we would see each other and catch up on things. Heaven gain a beautiful angel.
