Amie Marie Honermann was born on March 11th, 1941 in Parkston, South Dakota to Martin Rauscher and Helen Mize. Amie demonstrated strength, courage, and resiliency throughout her lifetime. At the age of 7 she was diagnosed with Polio; despite a whole life of painful procedures and uncertainties ahead of her, she would pursue a career as an LPN and worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital, DeLaney Clinic, and with Dr. Hockett. She met the love of her life,Victor Honermann, and married him on a cold, blustery February 4th in 1961. The same day, Vic carried her through the threshold of the home they have built, molded, and still remain in to this day. They created their 6 pack, having 1 son and 3 daughters. Amie was the heart of her home and she ran it on simple love, companionship, and comfort. She was a natural hostess with an open-door policy. Her home being a space of celebrations, shoulders to lean on, and a place where a kid's imagination could run wild. Delicious smells lingered, as she was a divine cook. Her warm presence and outstretched arms nurtured friendships near and far, but she was also well known for her competitive side. Amie was a fierce card player and enjoyed bridge night with her friends. Her table was often covered in dominos as friends and family of all ages gathered around. Always up to some mischief, Amie believed no matter the occasion, situation, location, or time, there is nothing a latex balloon couldn't fix. Amie’s light could not be held within walls. Rain or shine, the Honermann crew was on the river almost every weekend, creating memories and delighting in the simplicity of God’s gift. A tradition that will be carried throughout her family. Whether she was humming a tune, singing along to her record player, or keeping the peace with “Love One Another”, music flowed through her. She was known for singing Que Sera, Sera-- What will be, will be, and lived her life as such. Through her faith, light heartedness, and exceptional wit, she would face the trials of life and defy the odds with incredible optimism and grace. To know her, was to absolutely adore her.
Amie is survived by her spouse, Victor Honermann; children: Susan (Eric) Barnes, Mike (JoAnn) Honermann, Angie (Steve) Olson, and Mary (Mark Kouple) Nagel; her 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, LaVae Marquardt, Lynette Raucher, Kathy Hegge, Debbie Triebwasser, and David Rauscher along with her lifelong friends, Chrissy O'Brien and Kathy Wingen.
Her family is grateful for all the love and support Amie was given throughout her long and prosperous life.
