Obituary

Robert C. Wright, 70, of White Lake SD, passed away August 10, 2022, at Aurora-Brule Nursing Home. A memorial service will be 10:00 AM Saturday, August 27, at White Lake Methodist Church with Pastor Wayne Huber officiating. lnurnment will follow at Graceland cemetery in Mitchell. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Bob Wright was born in Mitchell, SD, on August 17, 1951, to Donn and Margaret (Peggy Falk) Wright. His birth was difficult, and he was barely alive when delivered. He lived his life with the adverse effects of his difficult birth.

He was fortunate to live in White Lake where he had the benefit of an accommodating school system and graduated from White Lake high school with the class of 1971.

Following high school, he worked for Hilton Lumber and White Lake Feed and Grain. He was especially proud of his service as a member of the White Lake Volunteer Fire Department.

Bob was not a procrastinator. Any task had to be done now, if not sooner. He also followed the rules and had no sympathy for anyone who didn't. School zone speeders and drivers who failed to yield to emergency vehicles particularly annoyed him. After reading about game law violation citations issued at the White Lake rest area, he unambiguously expressed his opinion that the judge "should take his hammer and go bonk, bonk, bonk on those guys’ heads."

Bob was an avid fan of auto racing, the Minnesota Twins, and the Minnesota Vikings. He enjoyed a Vikings’ victory, but relished a Packers’ loss.

Following the death of his mother in 2012, Bob resided at Aurora Brule Care and Rehab where he received excellent care.

Bob is survived by two brothers, Jan (Joyce) of Sioux Falls, SD, and Lyn (Connie) of Cimarron KS, his aunt, Marge Falk, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family wishes to express its gratitude to Kathy Styles, Larry Falk, and Gale Mohnen for the comfort and assistance they gave to Bob during his recent illnesses.

I still remember Bob while he worked at the WL elevator. Always in a good mood and if I was grumpy he would make me smile.
Our sincere sympathy goes out to Bob’s family.
