Obituary

Nona Shaw Wiseman, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away Monday April 10, 2023, at the age of 92, in Crooks, SD. Viewing will be Sunday, April 16 from 7-9:00 PM at Myers Mortuary in Roy, UT. Visitation will be Monday, April 17, from 10-11:00 AM at Myers Mortuary with burial to follow at Ben Lomond Cemetery in North Ogden, UT. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel and Myers Mortuary.

Nona Shaw Wiseman was born on February 25, 1931, in North Ogden, Weber, Utah, a daughter of Samuel Albert Shaw and Rachel Rosene Ward.

She was raised in North Ogden and graduated from Weber County High School.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in multiple callings including a Temple Worker in the Ogden Utah Temple. She also served a mission in the North Central States Mission in Minnesota between 1954-1955.

Nona married the love of her life, Claude Albert Wiseman, on January 3, 1958 in North Ogden, Utah. One year later their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They spent 58 wonderful years together.

Nona traveled with her husband through the U.S. Air Force in Germany, and England. They also were able to travel and tour Germany, England, Switzerland, France, Holland, Rome and more.

Nona worked as a seamstress for multiple businesses out of her home where she raised her sons. She was always in the service of others. She was constantly working, feeding, and caring for her home and family. She did all of this while finding time for everyone else. She was brought up on a dairy farm and her work ethic reflected that. Anyone that walked in the door always left with food in their stomach and a smile on their face. Even if they had already eaten previously. Thus, her famous cinnamon rolls, cookies in an ice-cream bucket, or whatever else she had to offer. She enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing, crocheting, watching her Utah Jazz and John Wayne movies.

She loved talking to others and sharing the gospel all while, in her words, being “as ornery as ever.” She was the sweetest and sassiest person we all know and loved. She devoted her life to her faith, her husband Claude and supporting and raising their 5 brats/sons Brett, Bradley, Brian, Bruce, and Brendan.

Nona is survived by her sons, Brian, Bruce, and Brendan, 22 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude; sons, Brett and Bradley; and brothers, Melvin, Wayne, Norman, Dale, and Owen.

Nona was an inspiration to me. She welcomed me into her home when I married her son Bradley. She loved my daughter Dori, just like she did all her grandchildren. I had many heart to hearts with Nona and many a tear I had shed. She always seemed to have an answer and reminded me that love was the most important thing next to faith and a good sense of humor. She was in my eyes "Betty Crocker of Americas". I never met a woman who could cook the way she did. More than not Sunday dinners with all her children gathered around, their spouses and the kids, grandkids, friends. She's put on one heck of a spread. Roast, ham, sloppy joes, fish (brought down from Alaska by Bruce). Barbecues, and the most amazing salads. Her German recipe for sweet pickles "to die for". I never met a woman who sacrificed more than she did. She bent over backwards to make anyone feel welcome and loved. She made sure she knew you were loved. When my husband Brad died "mom" (Nona) went out of her way to comfort me, come visit me with dad (Claude), or I'd go down there and spend time with them. Heaven just gained the most amazing and genuine gift that her family treasured. I thank Heavenly father for her son Bradley darling, and for Nona, her family and all that she stood for. My life has never been the same. My condolences and prayers are extended out to the Wiseman clan and prayers sent to you all. Nona was a masterpiece created. We love you Nona.
